About Me

I’ll start with what I hope to be a part of in The Network:

I’d like to continue to give back to a worldwide community, in a small and big ways. Small ways like being a part of bringing people together so our kids can continue to aim at a place worth living in once they are adults, & sharing my experiences with folks so they don’t have to reinvent the wheel (if they are interested to learn) so they get to their targets faster (for example what are resources I found helpful for my kids like STEM/etc.). Big ways like collaborating together with dedicated people on The Network to make a lasting, worthwhile impact on families & education from the entire spectrum of socioeconomic status, and have it be bold, scalable, and fun!

In short, I’d like to help others of all backgrounds see the possibility of The Network and inspire them to tag along in the journey or contribute!

I also have an amazing, exciting career in sales/business.  During work (https://www.linkedin.com/in/mikewklein), I focus on driving projects, programs, contracts, negotiations, revenue, & goal-setting with a few worldwide customers.  These customers develop highly-engineered products that positively affect daily life for people around the world (transportation, communication, scientific, economics, future-leaning technologies). I studied engineering for the love of learning & understanding the complex world we sometimes can’t see and touch (electrical engineering)–but that makes such an impact on our economies, relationships, and daily lives.

I’d say most of my dedication lies with my family (wife and 2 boys, one is 2 in Oct 2021, the other 4 in May 2021), helping them learn, grow, how to be silly & dance, and uncover the magic of being alive everyday. If I have a spare moment I usually find my mind thinking about how to engage better with people, whether me <=> my family, me <=> society, society <=> society.

My hopes for the future of education is that it is created and nurtured by new stakeholders, where the incentives of contribution, resource extraction, and results are in line with the true value back to society in the long run along with the respect & goals of the individual.

Hobbies & Interests

If not with family, work or development/education of littles, I spend my time listening to music (all kinds, most notably rock/guitar, 80s, new age, relaxing, vocal, country) and exercising (swimming, biking, hiking), revisiting old hobbies (guitar, soccer, travel pre-COVID) and uncovering new interests (piano, music theory), and reading & taking classes on how to be a better parent (philosophies like Alfred Adler, Rudolf Dreikurs, and books like Positive Discipline, Siblings without Rivalry, Systematic Teaching for Effective Parenting).
