Hello world,

I’m a biochemist, who specialized in tissue and organ engineering but after some years in research and business consultancy I discovered my passion for teaching and so I started teaching Science 11 years ago at a high school in a disadvantaged neighbourhood in Hamburg, Germany. Besides biology, chemistry and physics I also teach robotics and computer science. I also own a small educational robotics company and created two engineering academies at my school in collaboration with local businesses.

I was born in Afghanistan but came to Germany when I was six years old. Because of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan I could not return and I became a German citizen a few years later.

Having a different background than most teachers I was often disappointed about the lack of ingenuity and real problem solving skills in the educational approaches that I witnessed, Kids want to learn and learning is natural and fun to them but the formalized and inflexible structures that are imposed upon them often kill their curiosity and joy.

I hope to find like minded people who share the same goals in the future of education but have different views and ways to reach them. I think that we and our students live in exciting times, where technology helps in our human improvement. Exchanging and discussing ideas, learning new methods and techniques and sharing experiences will be a great benefit of this network and I can’t wait to contribute to it.
