Subpod – worm composting
Subpod is an Australian based company, and they also sell on Amazon. I saw it in action and was really impressed. The company’s philosophy and forum support seems great too. Worm castings are one of my favorite things to use but I’ve never tried keeping my own worms. Based on someone else’s experience (and dead worms!) it seemed pretty tough to keep up with maintaining them happily. The subpod helps solve that problem because the worms can escape through little holes if their digs get uncomfortable and then come back when there’s food and/or better conditions. You can also put the subpod into a raised garden bed to keep them somewhat contained. The thrifty side of me wondered if I could achieve the same effect with a plastic milk crate, but ultimately I decided that the secure lid, the aesthetics, and the company’s philosophy brought enough joy to justify the price tag. I ordered one to try out and if you want to check them out, they have a 15% off sale going on right now that ends on Sunday. Website is https://subpod.com
